My Life: In Bullet Format

Okay... now, lots more is going on but I don't have much time to update yet. I'm a bit behind on a few things as well and I hope to catch up soon. Here's a quick run down of what's what.

  • The presentation that Ryann and I developed for NODAC 2009 in Anaheim was accepted after a long waiting period. I think we had both given up hope but were very, very excited to find out the good news and there's even a somewhat funny story about how that all came to be.
  • Another proposal that I submitted was offered a spot as a poster session which means that I'll have the opportunity to research and prepare information as well as a sign or poster of my results and significant details to be put on display during the conference. I'm not super positive about much more but hopefully I'll get some more soon.
  • I've got a lunch scheduled for next week with someone who works in Auburn's Dean of Students Office and is a fairly well-known for his time in orientation around Region VI of NODA. I'm really looking forward to picking his brain about his path and what he sees as the next big thing in this field and in Student Affairs in general. Also, he's a fairly good friend of Dr. Bourke from his college days so I'm hoping to hear some interesting stories on that front as well!
  • Although I probably should have learned better by now, I've got a number of small projects in the works for the next few months. I'm hoping to co-author an article for a quarterly review with Ryann. I've also taken a few of the programs that have proven effective at Auburn and have begun to consider ways to implement them in different settings as well as back at LSU.
  • As I mentioned a few posts back, I'm planning a Tour de Tejas. Well, it seems like I may make a pit stop--in Atlanta! Jason Mraz and Paolo Nutini are playing two separate concerts toward the end of my trip and I've found incredibly reasonable plane tickets from San Antonio to Atlanta. I'm hoping to find at least one person to go with me to each show if not both since the tickets would only total about $75 for both. Any takers??
  • Lastly and perhaps what I'm most happy about, Chandler and Amanda are coming to visit this weekend! They'll be in town tomorrow night and, if they're up for it, we'll go out on the town though I've thus far refused to tell the camp counselors where I'll be. Haha! On Saturday, we'll be in Atlanta. Despite my planning nature, we're kind of playing things by ear based on how we feel about things at the time. I'm sure it will be fun and I am definitely looking forward to a nice, normal night with close friends.

I would love to post more information in a few days after our trip to catch back up and get on the right foot! War Eagle and Geaux Tigers-good luck this weekend!!
