It's hard to believe that I've been here for just over three weeks already! It seems like it's been barely a week since I left Baton Rouge, wandered around campus hoping to find my way, started getting to know the camp counselors and head camp counselors.

I've really enjoyed getting to share my experiences and advice with the camp counselors over the last few weeks. During training week, I was able to co-present a session on Icebreakers and Conversation Starters. I taught them to play Connections and Ha! I think they liked Ha! but mostly because they were laughing before everyone was even in position. Also, earlier this week I talked briefly with one of the counselors about his goals for studying higher education and eventually to take on a administrative role. It was very reassuring to see that there will be some excellent leaders looking to move into the field in the coming years even if it does mean a bit more competition!

One of the questions they ask me most often is how does Auburn compare to LSU- orientation-wise and as a whole. I've tried to remain consistent and usually respond that it's very similar and yet very different. From the campuses to the cities themselves, from the setup and operation of programs to the orientation leaders themselves, I can see positives and negatives to both. However, as with most early jobs, I'm using my experiences to develop myself and hopefully form a better idea of what I'm really looking for in a future position. Again, I'm certain that this was the right choice for me and I'm very happy and grateful for the opportunity to work with all of the amazing people that I am around this summer! War Eagle!

During the second night of Camp War Eagle, Auburn's University Program Council puts on an entertainment for the incoming students. Session Two's programming was a game show that combined pop culture, random knowledge and health and wellness issues into an intense yet exciting format. Oh, and there were bright lights and loud music. Though it ran pretty long and we had to push back some of the other events for the night, I think everyone really enjoyed it. I'm planning to get their contact information as a possibility to bring back to LSU especially for Spring Invitational as I'm sure it would be a huge success!

On a different note, the FOAP team moved into Blake Hall today to start their intense two-week training that begins LSU's orientation season. It makes me miss LSU a good bit but I know that this internship was the best decision for me. I'm hoping to send them a little something sometime soon to help them through the summer. I know that they are going to have an amazing time and that all of the new things going on at LSU should create an exciting atmosphere for them. I hope that they get through the summer without much drama and remember to breathe, eat, sleep and orient since that's what it's all about!

War Eagle! And, since LSU baseball's playing in the postseason, GEAUX TIGERS!!
