SROW 2009 was pretty amazing!
It was definitely different from any that I have been to in the past. Kelli Webber, my supervisor and the advisor for the LSU Ambassadors, was unable to attend because her son Parish came down with a virus on Wednesday. Not having Kelli with us was somewhat stressful but turned out to be a blessing for me. I was able to really take the reins like never before with Ambassadors. Unfortunately, Kelli was not able to accept her Outstanding Advisor Award in person. It brought a tear to my eye to accept it on her behalf.
I was very happy to FINALLY meet the staff and students from Auburn! I didn't get to spend much time with the students but I appreciate them tracking me down on Saturday night even though I couldn't hear them until they pulled up behind me and yelled "Camp War Eagle!" I did get to know the staff a bit better, though! I also got to meet a few people who had worked with CWE or at Auburn in the past. I can't wait for May 8th to get here so I can really get started!
I also attended a session that made me realize that I want to get much more involved with NODA and orientation programs in our region. I've got a lot of ideas and hope that at least a few come to fruition over the next year or so. I think that they can be a great asset to professionals and student leaders alike and would better prepare them for what they may face.
