It seems as though everything is moving so quickly. I remember just a few months ago filling out my NODA internship application and waiting anxiously to see which schools would be available. Truth be told, after going to their presentation at SROW last March, I was pumped about the possibility of applying to Auburn, but I just wanted to go somewhere other than LSU.
[Now, don't get me wrong. I absolutely love LSU and always will. However, I've been a student here since August of 2002 and worked with orientation since October 2003. Needless to say, it's about time for me to see what else is out there.]
For me, the most nerve-wracking part of the internship process has been the phone interviews. As much as I tried to prepare my answers ahead of time and research the schools and their programs, there was always at least one or two questions that I stumbled over. I'm surprised that I heard many of the questions considering I was beating myself up over what I thought was a horrible response.
Well, thankfully, that stage is in the past for now and I was extremely honored to receive three offers. This had to have been one of the hardest decisions I've made in a long time. My second choice school offered me a position as soon as the regulations allowed which was very exciting! However, I wasn't ready to accept since I was holding out for Auburn's call. Both schools have excellent programs and would be a great learning experience for me, but, after meeting Auburn's staff at on a few occasions, I felt that I would mesh better with them. I decided that if I hadn't heard from Auburn by noon on the following day, that I would take the first offer. Thankfully, as we were about to begin our weekly staff meeting the next morning, Jenn from Auburn called with an offer that I accepted on the spot.
After hearing from all of the professional staff, a former NODA intern and a number of the student staff (Camp Counselors), I knew that I had made the right decision. For now, all I can do is wait for May 8th and try to prepare myself as best as possible.
I've got a lot to take care of before I leave Tigerland for The Plains...
