SROW's Coming to Town!!

After a years of wishful thinking and considering our options, LSU has finally been given the opportunity to host the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop in 2011. Now this may not seem like much to some of you, but to an orientation junkie like myself, we just hit the jackpot!!

This was the big, secretive project I worked on throughout the summer, although some of you found out one way or another. In fact, my portion of the bid submission process was to design and compile the actual packet. I've posted a link below so you can see just how detailed it became. Apparently, they were very impressed since the actual bid application is simply a series of about 20 items to which prospective schools respond. I think it would suffice to say that LSU went a bit beyond that. I'm also fairly proud of the theme "SROWcean's '11: Let the Good Times Roll!" which should bring a mix of Vegas flair and South Louisiana spirit to keep things interesting to say the least!

I found out a few weeks ago as I drove home from my Tour de Tejas and somehow was able to keep it mostly a secret from folks. We wanted to reveal it to the LSU Ambassadors first since they will play a huge role in making this event a success. They were told this afternoon at the first general meeting of the year in a pretty special way. I've included a link to that as well.

I'm very honored to have had a role in making this a reality and hope to continue in some capacity even as I transition to a professional role in the field. Hopefully, my future position will allow me the time and energy to remain a part of the committee which would provide an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development. Plus, who wouldn't want to go to SROW?? (Except Codi and the other HCCs from Auburn, but I'm working on y'all!)

I'll update more as things develop, but most of the planning is still in the very early stages.
